Huge ball-shaped rosy blooms! Like low-growing balls of sparks for your early summer garden, the Nevskianum Allium (Allium ‘Nevskianum’) displays incredibly rose-colored clusters of tiny stars forming giant globes on very short stems! The shorter, sturdy stems are great cut or dried flowers for amazing bouquets and décor while calling pollinators and honeybees from near and far! This spring-flowering Asian species of Onion in the Amaryllis family!
The striking round blooms are full of tightly packed starry florets and unique leaves are sure to attract all the attention! Fringed in strappy, deeply ribbed, silvery gray-green, glossy foliage, the dense clumps are the perfect launchpad for these giant blooms! The blooms can last for weeks in the summer! The unique broad and pleated foliage looks more like wide green ribbons and bows than leaves!
Also known as a Turkistan Onion, Nevskianum colonizes small areas as the bulbs multiply, creating groupings of unique, broad-leaved that look great until fall. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 – 8, these cold and heat-tolerant flowering Onions are fast-growing and stay low to the ground, unlike their taller Allium cousins!
Planting and Application:Allium is an absolute must for Rock gardens, Cottage gardens, or Children’s Gardens where they add mirth and fantasy. Ideal specimen plants, edging, and low-growing thrillers throughout the sun garden – large or small! Front-of-the-border perennial plants or rows of unique blooms will have neighbors’ heads turning, these are show-stopping Allium bulbs!
Plant a few extra Nevskianum for your pollinators, and more for your vases! Try creating little bouquets or some unique Ikebana floral designs with these unique blooms! These even provide unique texture when the seed heads remain on the plant. Create incredible container gardens with these wide-spreading fillers, even a window box or planter will become fanciful with these additions! Any sunny patio planter, balcony, or terrace garden becomes something fanciful!

#ProPlantTips for Care:You’ll have the most blooms in full sun when grown in cooler climates and appreciating partial shade (afternoon shade) in hot climates, any rich, well-drained soil is perfect for Allium. Fall-planted bulbs need moderate moisture needs. Any soil type is suitable so long as it is not soggy and add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results. Despite being a member of the Onion family, there is no Onion smell unless the foliage is broken or crushed. Deadhead to remove spent blooms or try this trick – spray paint the dried seed heads any color you choose for unique garden décor for the rest of the summer and fall!
