When you search for the right Blueberry bush, look for varieties that thrive in your local area. Jubilee Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Jubilee’) is a heavy producer in some tough conditions where other varieties fail.
Jubilee was an introduction from the famed Mississippi State University. It performs in areas with high summer heat and humidity.

How to Use Jubilee Blueberry in the LandscapeWith an upright habit and lovely flowers, fruit and foliage, Jubilee makes a useful privacy screen. Make room for showy fruiting plants throughout your space.
Grow it along the back of your Kitchen Garden. Place it in your patio plantings. Run a long row in your side yard.
No yard? Not a problem. Grow them in 24-inch grow bags on your balcony or patio.
Use in a staggered double row with four to six feet of space between plants. They’ll need a little air circulation and you’ll want to pluck every berry you can, after all.

#ProPlantTips for CareBlueberries need acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5 at their root zone. Test your soil before you plant in the ground.
If your pH is much higher, it can be a lot easier to use container culture for “Blues.” Pro tip: collect neutral pH rainwater in a barrel to water your berry bushes.
Otherwise, use acidifiers like sulfur, and organic amendments down at the level where the roots will develop. It will take time to change your soil pH. Keep testing the soil regularly to ensure you don’t overdo it!
Count your blessings if you have wild Rhododendron or Lupines growing in your area. You’ll likely be quite successful with in-ground planting.
Provide at least four hours of direct sunlight a day, favoring morning sun and afternoon shade. In cooler summers, they’ll be fine in full sun.
Jubilee Blueberries require consistent weekly moisture, especially during fruit production. Mulch with pine straw or bark to cut down on surface evaporation and keep the roots nice and cool.
Young stems are the most productive. Prune out a few of the woodiest, thickest stems in early spring, before the leaves emerge. Make this a regular rejuvenation practice every few years.
